The blog “From Horror to Daily Life: Creative Writer and Academic” had an interesting article last year on Role Playing that I just stumbled upon. We will soon be some publishing some of our own articles on this subject, but I felt this article had a lot of insight and suggestions that were worthy to share as well. It focuses mostly on chat or forum based RP yet these principles still resonate across other mediums as well.
A Roleplayer’s Guide to Roleplaying, or “What I learnt from being countless other people.”
Just wanted to extend a thank you for sharing my article; I am glad you found its content to be worthy of sharing. Thought it may not seen like it initially, I draw quite a bit from my tabletop experience as well.
No, by all means thank you for such a wonderful article! We are trying to assist people with RP for an upcoming game called Shroud of the Avatar (https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com), so it was only natural to share your article here. I am sure it will help our community greatly. 😀
Oh wow, I hadn’t even heard of this particular game before now. I used to play Ultima Online pretty heavily in my early gaming days (started around Lord Blackthorn’s Revenge and held on for quite a few expansions), and had lot of my early fantasy reding experience shaped by Tracy Hickman. I will have to let my friends know about it as well.
Please do! 🙂
